Check the in-line fuse from the battery. You may need to upgrade to a higher amperage fuse.

The in-line fuse is the last thing that should be getting connected. The battery itself should be totally diconnected from the car to install an amp. Connecting the power wire to the amp while the battery is still connected is going to send a surge of power to the amp and at a minimum will blow your fuses, and it can kill the amp.
