  1. Stragers are unusually sensitive when staffies are about. I propose that

you get yourself a different pet or come to terms with the fact that you are unable to control any dog. Another solution is that you could have

yourself put down and save us all reading about your problems.

  2. OBEDIENCE TRAINING, OBEDIENCE TRAINING, OBEDIENCE TRAINING!

  3. staffies are a really jealous dogs try to give them all the same love. my mum as got two mother and daughter they always fight when you play with one so we have to play with them both. if you want another try and give more love to the other one then they should be fine. but when staffies have had a tastes of blood they want more that's why he keeps going for other dogs that's what happened to my mums dogs. so you will need help. don't give them any bones when your not with them because that will make them nasty with the other dogs. they get jealous over food to. hope you can sort it.

  4. i agree with the two above me im afraid....

  5. it would be interesting reading if it were another breed but these dogs are now so overpopulated you do not know whats in them.it has been reported recently that this particular breed is being used by gangs and drug users for illegal reasons fighting or breeding in droves for profit to fund drugs for well over a century these dogs have been breed for their aggression towards other dogs if you think a handful of training lessons will change them your wrong in over twenty years of owning a dog myself i have never seen a staffie playing along unleashed with other dogs it would be like waiting for the bang after a gun was fired

  6. I'm so sorry for your dog, I know how you feel. My ex-gf has got 2 staffies, and she told me I loved them more than I loved her; it wasn't true, but I cannot see them again, and it makes me feel unhappy. Don't rid of your dog, it would be a big mistake, and if you get another one, be sure not to make it jealous; and when they're left on their own, separate one from the other, and do not make them contend for a ball or other joys. Anyway, I think a female staffie would be a forced choice. Good luck!!!

  7. Having your dog spayed or neutered will go a long way, but unfortunately, that is a problem with the breed.  Great with people, but often aggressive with other animals.  Socialize, socialize, socialize.  If it is not safe to have him around other animals, muzzle him and take him out.  Do this off of his turf at first and he is likely to be less aggressive.  Bully breeds are not for the weak of heart.  You have to be on them at all times.  You have to be dominant.  Don't be afraid to get physical with your dog.  I'm not talking about beating him down or anything like that, but if he goes after another dog, throw him down on his side or back and get in his face.  Make absolute certain he knows that wasn't to your liking.  Do not be inconsistant.  Don't give him an inch.  Ever.  These are great dogs.  Some are easier than others.  Sounds like you have one of the harder ones and you'll have to be right there on top of him at all times, but he can still be a great dog.

  8. my dog is like that too, she only likes our family, and she can nip if people are too close, she also doesn't like it when other dogs are around also.  when your dog is showing signes of aggressiveness. stand over him or take him and put him on his back, in the dog world that means that they surrender, show him that you are the top dog, and that you will not tolerate his behavior, now i dont know if this will work 100% our dog is still a little agressive. but give it a try, you could always try a shock collar, and everytime he growls or barks, shock him, if your comfortable with shock collars, we dont have one, but some people do. try to keep him away from other dogs for a while. and feed him separately, maybe that will work.

i hope i helped. good luck.

  9. I wouldn't listen to people who just pass the blame on to you. We do not know what training you have done with your dog but i do know that sometimes you can train your dog day in and day out and socialise it from a young pup and it still turn out aggressive.

I am not saying that it can't be solved but it is going to take a lot more work. It is very hard when you have a dog that is aggressive to other dogs as the way to solve it is to socialise it but the majority of other dog owners and professional dog behaviourists will not be willing.

If you have a friend that has dogs then try asking them if they will help you by letting your dog meet theirs and spend time training your dog how to act around others. You can try ringing Training classes and dog behaviour institutes in your area but most will not accept a dog that could be a danger or "upset" the other dogs and their owners.

Aggression can often be caused by many things with the main being dominance and protection (of you). Staffies are a  very protective breed. I have a staffie cross my self and she is very protective and it causes many problems. Thankfully though i met a really nice man on a walk who is really into socialising his dogs and has offered to help me out.

  10. Sorry but its due to lack of training and bad handling by the owner, which would be you I'm afraid.

Edit.Sophie H.You say that aggression can often be caused by many things with the main being dominance and protection (of you). Staffies are a very protective breed.

That why the right training and good handling must start from the day you bring the dog home which it obviously wasn't, or it would never of killed another dog. Next it could be your friends arm it sinks its teeth into. With the right training it would never of got that bad.

  11. First question....are any of these dogs spayed or neutered or are they all intact?

You're dealing with a breed that naturally is dominating, protective and can be aggressive!

After you've had this problem of one attacking another one, why in God's name would you want to rush out and get another replacement one, why not work on the one(s) that you have through training and behavioural modification??

My suggestion for you is to contact your local AKC and try to get a hold of someone who is part of the Staff Club or rescue society to get in touch with someone who is confident in helping you rehabilitate your dog. Keep in mind that with all the training and rehab in the world, your dog may not change, and that is when you either decide to keep the dog and modify your daily routine for him, or give him up to the rescue society so he can go to an only dog house.

Get your head on straight and don't complain that you have no idea what to do, but you really really want another dog. It is lack of training and you as an owner missing signs that your dog has an aggression problem, so it is now on YOUR shoulders to fix it.
