YAY! My contract is up on my cell phone. Thinking about going with a cricket phone...?

I'm looking for experiences of people that have one currently or have had one in the past. Are they any good? Coverage? I know they're cheap but are they any worse than anyone else?

my cousin had cricket and hated the service then she got AT&T wireless

I have not had one in years, but at the time, it was not any worse dropping calls or having lost signal than any other carrier.  The problem is the limitation on service area.  I loved the freedom!  No contracts!  Moved to a major city that didn't have cricket and had to sign a contract.  

With Verizon now and love it.  No complaints other than you are stuck with your phone for almost 2 years unless you pay full retail in between.  And stuck under contract, but service is great and customer service is great.
