  1. My 15 year old daughter has been on birth control for 3 years because her periods were so bad she would miss school - cramps mostly.  She also has some pretty bad acne, too.

She tried Yaz a couple of months ago and it has been great.  Her skin is better and her cramps are more like normal cramps - a pain that can be contolled with regular medicines like Tylenol.  Her moods are better, too.

It is expensive, though, because it is not covered by many insurance plans (between $50 and $60 a month).

  2. One of my friends is on yasmin, its totally cleared up her acne but she has put on alot of weight.... and i mean alot. Like, 20 kilograms in 8 months.

I have had the deposhot, i really didn't like it. It made me feel sick all the time, my period came every 2 weeks, and i was more irritable than before.

I personally suggest looking at implanon implant, http://health.ninemsn.com.au/article.asp...

That is a site with a quick overview of it for you.

I have the implanon, have had for a year. I don't get periods at all, its great.

Also, one quick needle instead of one every 3 months into the bum.I know which one I'd be going for.

    Good luck!

  3. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with YAZ, but I've been on Depo for over a year and absolutely love it. I recommend it to any friends who are looking to switch their BC.

    Benefits I like:

    1. Extremely low-maintenance. Go in once every 3 months, and you're done.

    2. Cheapest BC option that I've found

    3. No estrogen. (Studies show it causes heart problems/strokes)

    4. It has dramatically lightened my period

I did not gain weight, nor does it cause mood swings. (I do feel a little off (emotional) for a day or two after the injection, but this was easy to deal with once I recognized it.)
