  1. do it

it wil;l change your life and help make you a fuller person there's nothing in this world better than submerging yourself into another culture trust me you will love it

ya it will be strange at first but it wont be long before your a native and loving every minuet of it

    good luck

and yah try to learn as much french as you can it will help

  2. Well before you leave, learn as much French as you can.  Trust me, it isn't that hard.  Francais est tres facile et je l'aime!  See?  France is amazing and as an English assistant, I'm sure there are plenty of people who are willing to help.  I have relatives in France who are extremely personable (which is a great representation of what the French are generally like).  Make the best of it because France is for the bold and beautiful (not just saying that to be biased!).  And as for the "biggest mistake of [your] life," honestly, I think you're being too over dramatic.  Really.  You are.  Do you know how many people would kill to be in your position?  To travel to a land where people go out every morning to buy fresh bread and croissants?  To escape the harsh realities of brutal obnoxious Americans?

Dude.  Seriously.  Get over being shy because the country of Romance, Beauty, and Prestige is waiting for you.

  3. DO IT!!! It will be a marvelous experience for you... Think positive.

Hope you will be in a pretty area, although most of the french countryside is breathtakingly beautiful, no matter where.

You will find châteaux, cathedrals, museums and buildings in most towns, all worth visiting... Take advantage of this chance and visit as much as you can while there!

Also, your french will improve, and you will bloom into a more mature and wonderful person!

I wish you a very happy year!

  4. You have to follow through with this.  Even if you have some difficult times while there, the experience for you will be well worth it.  If you don't go, you will always look back and wish you had.  You will learn so much about a different culture and learn a new language.
