Ya Ching Hsu crushes Priscilla Lun in Women’s Singles qualifying round of the Chinese Taipei Open
The domination of Chinese Taipei’s shuttlers in the Women’s Singles category proved that they are ready to make their mark at international stage as Ya Ching Hsu crushed Priscilla Lun of USA in the Women’s Singles qualifying round of the 2011 Chinese Taipei
Open at Sinjhuang City, on Tuesday, September 6.
The level of the Taipei shuttlers has become world-class as they have achieved a certain level of maturity in their game. This improvement was quite visible in the game of Ching Hsu who played remarkable badminton and showed no mercy to Priscilla in the
qualifying round battle and finished off the match in straight games by spending just 22 minutes in the court.
Ching Hsu kept a firm control over the rallies from the starting points and continued her power play throughout the whole set. She was manipulating the loop poles in the game of her opponent and remained successful in executing powerful strokes in the right
areas. Ching Hsu made her rival move around in all four corners of the court. She managed a five-point gap until the interval by reaching at 11-6.
After the break, Priscilla tried to play an attacking game but she failed to get behind the bird because of the speed and power in her challenger’s strokes. Ching Hsu continued her composed game and won the first set without facing any problem with the score
of 21-12, in just 10 minutes.
The second set was interesting as compared to the first one as both ladies progressed closely in the match. Priscilla was moving fast this time and picked the bird early from all corners of the court. Until the interval, the American shuttler was just behind
her opponent at 9-11.
However, Ching Hsu worked hard by putting more power into the rallies to get in a dominating position in the game. She managed a three-point lead and maintained it throughout the remaining set. She won the game in just 12 minutes with a four-point margin
of 21-17. This straight-set fight took 22 minutes and finished off with a 21-12 and 21-17 margin.
