Ya Lan Chang beats Yu Chieh Cheng to claim Women’s Singles title at SOTX Auckland International 2012
Chinese Taipei’s talented player Ya Lan Chang made her presence felt by claiming Women’s Singles title after beating her compatriot Yu Chieh Cheng in the final contest at the SOTX Auckland International 2012 on Sunday, June 24, in New Zealand.
The inform Ya Lan, who has been displaying her incredible craft all the way to the final of the tournament, continued her winning run and overpowered her team-mate Yu Chieh after a good fight.
Ya Lan found a wonderful start when she bagged the first game with a huge margin. However, she had to work really hard in the second game and eventually won it with a tight margin. She finished off the match in two games by taking 30 minutes.
In the meanwhile, Yu Chieh played quivering badminton in opening set as she was helpless against the fireworks of her rival. However, she managed to give a tough fight in the second set but failed to remain focused in the ending points and lost the match with a respectable score.
In the first game, Ya Lan started her run quite authoritatively as she dictated her rival in all areas of the court by controlling the pace of rallies.
Until the one-minute interval, Ya Lan remained successful in setting up a superb gap on the score board.
After the mid-game break, Ya Lan continued her power play without facing any interruption from her team-mate. The positive play and aggression of Ya Lan helped her to take the first game with a 21-15 score on the board.
In the second set, Yu Chieh also showed her brilliance as she played to her maximum potential and did not let her rival to occupy the driving seat this time.
Both ladies worked extremely hard to take charge of rallies and remained toe-to-toe until the mid-game interval.
After the break, they continued fighting in the similar fashion and the score reached at the breathtaking stage of 23-23.
At this stage, Ya Lan controlled her nerves and managed to win the game with a superb 25-23 score on the board.
Ya Lan emerged as the title winner as she defeated her country-mate in straight games with a margin of 21-15 and 25-23.
