am already in the Cali army national guard just signed and my best friend that ive known for about 9 years wants to join the ARNG with me and am an INFANTRY 11B,And he wants to do the same. How do I make him say no ,he just wants to join because of me not his country and I know he is a p***y when it comes to going to IRAQ and stuff and he's prob going to die because he's over weight and slow, and very dum at using guns if you know what I mean.

HOW DO I MAKE HIM CHANGE HIS MIND?

  1. Some people might have said the same things about you, that you're inadequate in an area or two and would have never made it.  But they didn't discourage you to the point of not joining (if they did at all).

Bottom line. This is his life, his choice. If you feel that he's that out of shape and won't make it, then he'll prove it on basic. And after getting recycled a few times, they'll send him home. You'll have no worries.

Or maybe he'll turn into that kid that excells at everything, loses weight and has a total 180 degree turn in his personality ... and questions your abilities.

You never know how things work out.  Stay out of his life changing decisions.

  2. Go thru the link below and see if you can find something ( I ask you to do this because you are in a face to face with him). Or you can stand up to him and say "F*** Off, I don't want you near me!" Worked on my second wife.

  3. Well, you cant "make" him change his mind.  All you can do is advise him otherwise.  No worries though, as you many have already figured it out, people make a huge transformation the first year they're in the service.  Even if he does join, they'll at least tell him how to clear a jammed M-16 and keep it pointed down range.

That's better than a lot of non-infantry personnel though.  I suffered temporary hearing loss from a guy in my signal unit who discharged his M-16 with a blank right next to my ear during funeral detail.  Some people are simply scary, irregardless the training you give them.

  4. its not your desicion, dont listen mr puma, its cos of people like him there is a war in Iraq

  5. Dude, it's his decision if he wants to go. It may just be the best think for him. If he doesn't cut it, they will give him a chapter 5 general discharge and he goes home. No biggie. I join 30 years ago with my best friend (he talked me into it. I wanted Air Force) and Basic and AIT are so much better when you've got a friend you can lean on from home. So Welcome him.

Who knows, it may be him that says you Ar's!

    that is my answer
