When someone refers to a yacht as "Yare" (yar) what exactly do they mean.

  1. It means a very nimble quick vessel.  There is also a yacht company called Yar Craft Boats,  it's crafts are supposed to be very quick smooth riding vessels.


  2. "Yar" was used by Cary Grant in "The Philadelphia Story" ("My, she was yar").  I've been around boats and yacht clubs all my life (longer than I'll admit here), but I've never heard anyone say yar.  I think it's supposed sound like a Main Line, WASPy word.  Boffo, sporting, capitol....
