Yafai brothers eye Olympics after winning Gold and Bronze medals at Felix Stamm Memorial Tournament

The British national Amateur boxer, Khalid Yafai, has now become the strongest candidate for the London Olympic Games in 2012 as part of the Great Britain boxing team by successfully defeating the Moldavian national, Alexander Riscan at the Felix Stamm Memorial
tournament in Poland.
Khalid Yafai won the gold medal in the process.
England boxing officials are very much concerned about Khalid’s current performance because they really want to see him as the winner of gold medal in the London Olympics 2012.
He has now received a lot of appreciation and encouragement from his teammates after winning this gold medal.
Another interesting thing of this tournament is that Khalid’s younger brother, Gamal, fought very well and he was not behind him in any way in respect of his commitment to the game. His amazing performance brought bantamweight bronze medal his way on the
same night.
Khalid was very impressive throughout the fight. He was perfect and stuck to his game plan and Riscan was not able to predict his hand speed and timing of delivery.
Khalid tried to dominate the fight from the very beginning taking the advantage of his movement in a fast-paced fighting combat. Riscan seemed in trouble especially to counter left hooks landed by Khalid directly to his body.
A couple of rounds went very close as the scorecard points were 3:4 and 6:7. Afterwards, Riscan was not able to continue with the same pace and went to the floor as a result of receiving flurry of fabulous punches from Khalid.
Both the Yafai brothers are active members of the Great Britain boxing team and their top most priority is to win the bouts at the Olympics in 2012.
Elder brother Khalid has been participating in Olympics before in his career in Beijing in 2008. He has to beat Tommy Stubbs before that to stay active in the GB boxing team.
The 19-year-old, Gamal, Khalid’s younger brother has to go through the toughest competition of his boxing career against Luke Campbell, who has been the European Champion in 2008.
