Yahel Ernesto Castillo and Julian Isaac Sanchez win Men's 3m Springboard gold – Pan American Games
Yahel Ernesto Castillo and Julian Isaac of Mexico won the title of Men's 3m Springboard on opening day of diving competition at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara on Wednesday, October 26.
Just like the Olympic Games, Pan American Games scheduled every fourth year and these draw participation of world renowned international athletes.
The Mexican players showered their expertise in the 3m synchronized discipline to reach the top of podium for gold medal. The duo qualified as the best diving pair in the final round and with their splendid efforts they maintained their spot in the playoff.
They faced swear battle from Troy Matthew Dumais and Kristian Bettega Ipsen of USA, who had their sight affixed towards the crown of the 3m event.
The duo was arena's favorite from the start as they had already grasped the bronze medal of 3m synchronized Springboard at the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai, this July.
With their gigantic efforts and strong determination Castillo and Sanchez accomplished a phenomenal score of 457.32 points to claim gold medal of the event.
Their remarkable efforts place them prominently ahead of their American rivals, who failed to surpass them on the overall points table. Dumas and Ipsen remained considerably behind the champions, as they failed to overcome their effort with a difference of 45.33 points.
The American achieved a fantastic score of 411.99 [points to reach the victory stand for silver medal. With their outstanding efforts, they easily overwhelmed their following competitors, Rene Raul Hernandez and Jorge Luis Pupo of Cuba.
The Cuban divers remained 27.66 points behind silver medalists, scoring an astounding total of 384.33 points for bronze medal. They were trailed by Brazil's Cesar De Castro and Ian De Matos, who ranked fourth on the overall rankings list with a score of 377.79 points.
In the meantime, Colombian pair of Victor Hugo Ortega and Sebastian Villa, who remained just 2.76 points behind fourth position holders by accumulating a total of 375.03 seconds for fifth position.
The spectators applauded for remarkable efforts of all podium finishers while the winners received their awards and accolades after the completion of session.
