Yahel Ernesto Castillo excels in Men's 3m Springboard heats: Day two – 2011 Pan American Games
World's bronze medallist, Yahel Ernesto Castillo of Mexico demonstrated his gruelling efforts in the qualifying rounds of Men's 3m Springboard on the second day of diving events at the 2011 Pan American Games. The session concluded on Thursday, October 27
at Scotiabank Aquatics Center in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The Pan American Games are held every fourth year and these involve participation of many international athletes.
The event comprises participation of sixteen international athletes, who displayed their aggressive efforts to secure top qualification spot in the playoff.
Among all the participants, Castillo proved his eligibility for the top qualification spot by overwhelming the efforts of his opponents in a comfortable manner. He faced severe challenge from his compatriot, Julian Isaac Sanchez, who was eyeing the best
qualification seat in the final.
The 24-year-old Castillo grabbed bronze medal of the 3m synchronized discipline at the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai, this July.
The Mexican veteran went on a rampage to cement his first place as he attained a wonderful score of 510.70 points. He was trailed by his team-member, Sanchez, who stayed 36.30 points behind him and earned a sore of 474.40 points to enter the final as second
best diver.
The third finest qualification spot was claimed by Sebastian Villa of Colombia, who remained 25.35 points away from second finisher and achieved a total of 449.05 points. With his stupendous efforts, he outperformed his following diver, Drew Robert Livingston
of USA.
Meanwhile, Livingston was nearly 7 points away from overpowering the efforts of Colombian diver as he gathered a total of 442.45 points for fourth position. He was trailed by Canadian athlete, Reuben Daniel Ross, who was 5.40 points behind him, accomplishing
a score of 437.05 points.
In the mean time, Cesar De Castro of Brazil emerged as the sixth finest qualifying participant. Castro gained a total of 435.95 points to cement his place in the playoff.
The crowd enjoyed furious efforts of all divers, who had their sight affixed on top qualifying positions. Furthermore, these competitors will face each other in the final round of 3m event, where the winners will be awarded awards and accolade for their
immaculate efforts.
