Question:

Yahoo 360: If no bugs being fixed, when is the transition?

Myself and several friends use the 360 network to keep in touch, and up-to-date with one another.

In the recent past, 360 has been incredibly buggy (to the point some either have stopped using the service, or moved onto competitors).

I realize there was an update (not recent) that no bugs would be fixed in the transition period. The last official "360 team" update I see is QUITE old.

Do any of you have any links to recent (say, within the past month??) updates regarding the transition of 360.

If there isn't, I am most likely going to join my friends on Multiply and urge others to do the same.

It seems to me that they'd want to retain their existing users and get this done with as quickly as possible. The bugs, delays, missing blogs, broken links, etc. are insanely irritating and long overdue to be resolved.

Any help in finding recent, official word on this is appreciated.

(I've searched with no luck)

  1. UPDATE: The Y!360 team blog is the centralized place. Their site is accessible from every 360 space via the "Yahoo! 360 News" link on the upper right corner of the space and it is the first Favorite that every user has upon starting the 360 space. That is where they said to check for updates. Please just look there. Any other place is mostly just rumor and conjecture, not connected to "official sources."

    **************************************...

Official word is on their 360 team blog. The word is early 2008, which could mean anytime between January and end of March. That really is the only place that I look too for "official" information (http://blog.360.yahoo.com/product_360 ). Another place to check out - which seems to have the best 411 on the 360 transition and which I use for some confirmation is - the 360 Rumor Control blog at http://360.yahoo.com/profile-Kk7QoHEierB... .

They did also say on the latest (and yes, old) 360 team blog that "We'll provide updates on the new profile service here on the blog. But, there's lots of work to be done, and most likely we will not have additional details in the near future. We will keep you apprised over the next several months." We are within "several" months.

Whether you move, obviously is up to you. My backup is basically Yahoo!Mash in terms of keeping up with people. But I have found ways to work around most bugs (see my blog entries for information or Y/A answers). I plan to stay on Y!360 until my space becomes totally inoperable. But if you aren't interested in taking that risk or waiting for further word, then maybe another service is best for you.

  2. I agree it is getting so frustrating on 360.. I like you have been searching for more recent up dates with no luck. I regret now that I have deleted my multiply recently but I may have to reopen it if yahoo doesn't do something soon. Sorry that I didn't answer your question, just needed to vent I guess.

  3. Supposedly the the new network is coming out this Tuesday, Jan 8th. But I have seen no mention of anything anywhere. Its actually pretty pathetic how lousy yahoo runs there site. Very unprofessional in my opinion.
