Yahoo Go v1. Mail won't update correctly. Please help.?

When I read and/or delete email from Yahoo via my desktop all is good. However, Yahoo Go on my phone will not mark the messages as read or deleted. It leaves them as new. So in my desktop version of the mail client I have no unread messages but on my phone, Yahoo Go shows that I have 23 unread messages. Even when I force Yahoo Go to sync it will only add any new messages that have arrived but not modify the existing messages that have already been read or deleted elsewhere.
