Question:

Yahoo! Groups message text cut off at random?

This just started last week, maybe the week before. When I receive my messages back from Yahoo! Groups, they are truncated. (I DO *NOT* GET A "MESSAGE TRUNCATED" NOTE. THIS IS A SEPARATE ISSUE!!!) The text is cut of randomly mid word. Sometimes it's cut off on only the second word, sometimes it's makes it through a paragraph or two before getting cut off. Other users say that the message they receive is complete, it's just my copy that is truncated.

Any idea what is happening, why and how to stop it?

  1. Also possible that the moderator of the group is editing the messages and not doing a great job of it.

In order to determine if it is a transmission issue from Yahoo groups to you go to your group's site and compare the message stored there with what you see.

  2. I'd look at your own mail provider on that one. if that same message is fully there for other members getting it, but you're not, it's on your end

  3. They are having some problems with Yahoo!Groups and Yahoo!Mail messages.  See the email below that some users received:

We are aware that there is a Yahoo! Mail issue that is currently causing some users to see html code (ex. “nbsp;”) within some Groups messages. We are currently working to resolve this issue and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

  4. So it cuts off really early in the message (well before the 1MB size limit of Yahoo Groups messages)?  I've never heard of that problem before.  It might be a problem with your Yahoo account, or it could be a problem with your e-mail provider (since it sounds like you're checking Group messages in your e-mail instead of at the Group web site).  If you want to contact Yahoo Groups Customer Care, you can do so by filling out the form at http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/... .  I would suggest also contacting your e-mail provider, though, and see if they are having any issues with e-mail from Yahoo Groups.
