Yahoo Messenger "hangs" when closing?

Question

Okay folks, I know only enough about computers to fix general concerns. In other words, if rebooting doesn't solve a problem, I usually give up.

When I sign out of Yahoo Messenger about half the time it hangs. I have to control alt delete and close it the hard way. Windows recognizes it as an application hang but says it is a Yahoo problem.

I installed the latest and greatest version of Yahoo Messenger but it hasn't helped.

Is it something with my computer I need to have fixed? It is a Dell Dimension 2400 with Windows XP. I am using 49% of my available hard drive and it is defragged regularly. It only started doing this within the last 3 months

if we have the latest and greatest  software this not mean it is the best!

i had the same problem at home computer, and i can't explain why that newest yahoo msg. doesn't work, so i uninstalled and  i installed an older version, 7.1 i think and now is ok.
