Question:

Yahoo Music Unlimited vs the others?

I'm wondering if anyone has Yahoo Music Unlimited. I was curious to know how good it is compared to Napster, Itunes, etc. I only want music to play on my computer (and not for use with a portable device) and I was curious if anyone had any insight about the selection and value of the service. Especially, if anyone knows if they have a decent classic rock selection, like older Syd Barret-era Pink Floyd. Thanks!

  1. NO SORRY I DO NOT..

  2. well i have itunes.

  3. I've been using Yahoo! LAUNCHcast for free now for 2.5 years, and I'm very satisfied.  I only use the free service since I can't afford a monthly fee, but by rating music early and often, I had customized my station to fit my interests, and soon the station played only music that I enjoy.  The free service lets you do the following:

*Listen to 200 songs per month on different "stations," which consist of a single genre, such as rock, pop, bluegrass, classical, etc. You can skip 5 songs per hour.  After your 200 are up, you may only listen to your own station until next month.

*Listen to your own station as much as you like with unlimited skipping.

*Listen to a friend's customized station, with the same 200 a month restrictions.

*Purchase music by the song or by the album.

*Preview 30 seconds of a song.

If you download the Jukebox to play your music, BE WARNED that it is full of bugs.  I use it, but it sure is a hassle to keep it healthy...often involving removing and reinstalling the player.

With the player, you can also play music off a CD, computer, or other device, like you would with Windows Media Player.

I recommend LAUNCHcast, but I don't recommend the Unlimited service, since you can enjoy it for free.  I would only recommend playing the station with the Jukebox if you are experienced in troubleshooting software issues.  The alternatives to playing with the Jukebox are by using your Messenger or by visiting the music.yahoo.com website and playing the station in the browser window.
