  1. No guarantees.  Help is trying to contact the Internet.  If it thinks that an Internet Connection is not available, then it gets confused.  Maybe you didn't get rid of some AOL software  when you switched to Mediacom, in particular, ACS (AOL Connectivity Service).  If so, check in add/remove programs but look for AOL ....   and click Remove.  You should get a listing of installed AOL products.  That's where you would see ACS.  Remove ACS and anything else that is appropriate.  I assume you are now using a cable broadband connection. Click Start, click Control Panel, and click Network and Internet Connections.  Click setup or change your Internet connection.  Make sure you remove any dial-up entries from the box.  Back on the Network connections panel, click Network Connections and make sure the system is not trying to use a Modem vs a Lan or High Speed connection.  Reboot your system and make sure you can connect to the Internet properly.  If necessary, you might want to run the Network Setup Wizard.  I've listed a lot of things that may be redundant, but it's very easy to correct these problems when you are at someones computer and very difficult to explain when you are at a remote location.  Good luck.
