Question:

Yahoo deleted a question after I spent 15 minutes researching for it!?

A question was asked in this section a few weeks ago that I had to answer. The person wanted to know if hate crimes against people of a different sexual orientation were even common.

So, I researched this and came up with statistics and examples and projected numbers. (About 15% of hate crimes are directed towards people of an alternate sexual orientation.) Heck, I even defined hate crime. Proud of my work, I click the preview and submit buttons, and BAM!!! Yahoo deleted the question!

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the sad destruction of their greatest answer in a similar way?

  1. It's happened to me.

    I didn't enjoy it.

I don't know why questions get deleted. Oh well.

  2. Oh, yes! They've pulled that stunt on me many, many times. I would spend time answering a question that I thought deserved more than a moment's pause, trying to make my thoughts come out the way I meant it, sometimes relating my own life experiences...then when I click the "Submit" button, the question has been deleted!

Sometimes, the question is a "hot topic" (one that can be debated and sometimes, complained about) but for maybe 4 out of those 5 times that it's happened to me, I saw no patent reason for the the question to be deleted - other than the possibility that the one who "complained" is someone whom Yahoo Answers defines as "reliable", and took their word for it (about the complaint).

Thanks for bringing this up. I thought I was the only one frustrated when this happens...

  3. This has been happening a lot lately. I had a couple of answers that I posted yesterday, to innocent questions, and now they are deleted. I think trolls may be responsible for this. Who knows. You have great answers, so try not to let that get you down!

  4. yes just yesterday, I was telling people how they could get unclaimed money, and the deleted it

  5. All the time.

It's even worse when you finally finish typing 6 long paragraphs and when click on the submit button, they say that the question was deleted.

It happened a few times already.

Just yesterday, someone asked what was she doing in Yahoo! 7?

I got all sorts of links, typed a whole big description and a good explanation...took me around 10 minutes do it, and when I clicked on Submit, this page shows up saying "Sorry, customer care had to remove this question"

    I was pissed...

Anyways...there's absolutely nothing we could do.

Also recently, I wrote a long answer to a question, for which I got the best answer.

When I clicked on the link in my email, they told me the question was deleted.

It sucks...I wanted to know what feedback was given by the poster.

    *Best Wishes*

  6. Yes. I hate it when I really put a lot into my answer and then when you hit "submit" and the question has been deleted. I usually put a lot of thought into my answers unless its just a stupid question and most times I don't even bother to answer those. I try my best to give kind, thoughtful answers that can actually help someone and I always try to speak fromexperiencee. So, Yes I hate it when that happens. I'm not the fastest typer either so I get reallyfrustratedd when I type a long answer and it has to go to waste.

  7. It hasn't happened to me yet. I do, however, find the idea of deleting a legitimate answer more than a bit disturbing.

  8. Are you sure Yahoo deleted it? The author of the question can terminate the question at any time... even accidentally by clicking delete rather than  the edit button. I have seen this happen after many of the respondents somewhat roasted the asker and they pull the question to avoid listening to all the negative feedback. Yahoo removes questions that are posed as questions but are posted only to vent a hatred or poses a  morals violation all users agree to prior to using the system. There are plenty of websites out there that do not do this and these type of questions can be posted without interference. Since this forum is open to the general public especially under-aged users then a level of decorum IS required here. It works by the general viewers of your question mark the box reporting it to Yahoo as a violation of its policies (REPORT ABUSE BUTTON under your question). I have done this before for sexually explicit questions that were asked for the sole purpose of demeaning someone. A question is asked for legitimate advice that contains sexual content is allowed. One that is trolling for approval of the asker's warped treatment  of others usually gets my vote for removal. It is frustrating when I put a lot of effort into an answer and the question gets pulled for whatever reason.  I can still take pride in knowing the answer I did post or got ready to post made sense, would have been helpful and gave insight the readers may not have considered.

  9. Yes, it is frustrating when that happens.

Especially when the question seems perfectly innocent or when you put a lot of effort into the answer.

I think trolls do it to mess with certain people.
