  1. When Yahoo Photos closed, people did not lose their e-mail addresses. The service just closed. Either people transferred and saved their pictures or they didn't. So, I don't think you need to worry about losing your Yahoo ID (i.e. e-mail address).

UPDATE: Your Yahoo ID gives you access to many of Yahoo's free services. You choose which ones you want to use. However, some Yahoo services like Yahoo! Answers and Yahoo! 360 require that you delete your Yahoo ID in order to "completely" block "yourself" from using the service. Others, like Yahoo! Mash, do not. That's just how it is.

That doesn't mean that you can't somewhat close a Yahoo! 360 page if you refuse to delete your Yahoo ID. You can simply make your Yahoo! 360 space look like it's never been used, delete friends, and never return to use it.

Your Yahoo e-mail address is connected to Yahoo! Mail, not 360. Yahoo! 360 has its own mailbox. The only connections between the two services is if you set up 360 alerts to arrive in your Yahoo! Mail and that you are using the same Yahoo ID (or maybe profile under that ID) to access the services.

So, back to my original point. Just because Yahoo decides to shutdown one of its services (case in point - Yahoo! Photos), that doesn't mean that everyone who used that closed service will lose their Yahoo ID (which happens to make up the first part of the Yahoo! Mail e-mail address) or lose access to other Yahoo services that they use.
