Question:

Yahoo mail and main page works, however the "my yahoo" page will not come up, nor "yahoo news".

I can not view the "my.yahoo" page at all. I keep getting an error as if my computer was offline with no internet access. Additionally, when I use the search feature at Yahoo.com, the section for "news" is also coming up with the "offline" notice. My email works fine, as do every other web page I seem to view. Yahoo support tells me it is a setting within my anti-virus program, but I have looked through Norton's setup pages from top to bottom and cannot find the issue. I have even suspended the anti-virus program, and that has not helped.

I have looked at firewall settings as well. It is the strangest thing.

EVERYTHING works except the "my.yahoo.com" website.

Any suggestions ?

    Hello

I too had this issue and it was an optimization software called IOLO System Mechanic.  Similar softwares are Norton Systemworks and Registry Cleaner.  If you have such software disable it and see if your experience improves.  I uninstalled mine but will reinstall it at some point as IOLO often provides updates.

Fixing your system could be very simple, starting with an easy maintenance checklist:

___1. On Internet Explorer (IE) menu click 'Tools', click 'Internet Options', click 'General' tab, at 'Browsing history' click 'delete' temporary files, click 'OK' to exit.

___2. Increase the browser disk space allotment. On the menu again click 'Tools', click 'Internet Options', click 'General' tab, scroll to browsing history, set 'Disk space usage' at 250MB or 500MB, click 'OK' to finish.

___3. If you're using XP some systems did not ship with Java. Download and install the latest version at http://www.java.com/

___4. Many Yahoo! advertisements and the new Yahoo! Mail 'Mail Chat' are Flash Player oriented and you may need to install the newest version http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer

___5. Yahoo! Mail Help can provide useful information for future reference http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ya...

    Best wishes,
