Yahoo news article???

Question

i was reading the yahoo article a couple of days ago about how women perfer men with green cars instead of sports cars. however, i noticed somthing and it has stuck with me for the past few days. it said that it was greener to keep the car you have than to buy a new one??? what is the logic behind that???

I would guess that it means that it takes more energy to make a new car. Therefore, just keeping the old one uses less energy and resources. It would actually depend on how old and polluting your old one is, i suspect.
