Yahoo! texting to Verizon cells?

Question

I have a friend in USA, who's cell provider is Verizon / shes on a Verizon network and she says her mom said she is on a five for five deal [or something like that she said] but we don't know if it costs her to receive messages, or send them back. If anyone knows please tell me, :)

I have never sent an email from my yahoo to my cell, but I have sent yahoo pics from my cell and I have never been charged.  My boss sends me emails from her outlook express to my cell and I haven't been charged for those either.
