Yahoo!Groups - How To's, Im totally new to this and I need someone to help me out in my group?

Im totally new to yahoo groups, I started a new group by just following the web instructions and I have created it, (Its a mailing group), but I dont know how to customize e-mails sent the group,how to have unique mail templates for the e-mails by my group,how to add the Promote features like the dialog box which say "Enter you e-mail address here to join",how to have a customized web page for the group etc & etc. & etc. I badly need some help over this thing really quick.   1. is the group open, closed or restricted membership?

    1) you cant customize e-mails sent to the group. mail templates either. you can have that for you r own mail preferences, but only you will benefit from it and other may see is when they read. doing that depends on mail provider.

    2) the promote code is for other web sites, not for your own group. people who want to join wont even see it, they'll just click the deafult tan to join on the group. if your group is closed or adult, it wont list any where for anyone to find it.

    3) the actual look of the group is quite limited- color wise. you can add a JPEG photo or html instead, but what you see for colors is it.


  2. Easy...On your Yahoo Groups page, there is a column on the left.  One of the links is "PROMOTE"  Click on that and it will take you to a page with HTML code for a small icon you can insert on your web page.

    When people click on that icon,  they will be taken to the signup page for  your group.

The Promote feature is to add to a web site outside of Yahoo Groups.  If you have your own personal website, then you can add the HTML code there to one of the pages of your web site.  If you don't have your own web site, don't worry, members can still join via the Join This Group button at the upper-right-hand corner of your Group's home page.

    As for customizing the home page for your Group, click on Management on the left-hand side of your Group's web page.  Then click on Description & Appearance under Group Settings.  Then you can click on the Edit link next to Description to edit the Group's Description that appears on its home page, and/or you can click on the Edit link under Colors And Photo to change the colors for the Group, and/or you can click on the Edit link next to Photo (towards the lower-right-hand corner) to add or change the Group's Photo that appears on its home page.
