Vladimir Yakunin believes that Lokomotiv Moscow have taken a right decision to part company with Jose Couceiro and has hailed Slaven Bilic
The state-run Russian Railways company
president, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vladimir-c36322 Yakunin, has expressed his desire to see Lokomotiv Moscow at a higher place in the Russian Premier League table next season.
The 63-year-old Russian national has admitted that the Moscow-based club failed to achieve noticeable accomplishments domestically this year.
The Railroaders were just not good enough to reach the Russian Cup semi-finals after suffering a humiliating 4-0 defeat against Rubin Kazan at Tsentralnyi stadion. Worse still, the Parovozy finished 7th in the league
table after recording back-to-back defeats during the third league round.
Yakunin believes that Lokomotiv are at right to lay off Jose Couceiro after having a disappointing campaign this year. He added that the Loko have now signed an experienced coach, Slaven Bilic, to replace the Portuguese tactician.
The Red-Greens have signed a three-year contract with the Croatian national team manager. Bilic is expected to conduct his first training session at Moscow after the Euro 2012.
Media reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 suggest that Lokomotiv president, Olga Smorodskaya, is set to follow in Couceiro’s footstep to leave Lokomotiv stadium this summer. However, Yakunin has denied such reports, admitting that the rumours hold
no truth.
Yakunin heaped praise on Couceiro, admitting that the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 manager is a decent coach with a lot of experience. The president added that the Russian outfit would not have dismissed the Portuguese tactician had Lokomotiv
secured a European qualification.
“The Railroaders were at the 3rd spot in the second league round but they failed to retain their lead.”
“I believe in Lokomotiv’s potential and the power of the fans. I hope they will continue to support the team with the new manager. But they have made the changes because they want to see this club at a higher place in the standings.”
The Railways president was quoted as saying.
Asked why Lokomotiv have chosen Bilic above all the other potential candidates available for the managerial position, Yakunin insisted that they wanted a young and talented manager who can fix the growing problems at Moscow.
