2002 Yamaha 115 hp outboard.

Serviced frequently. Engine does not overheat during alarm issue. Water coming out of engine is not hot.

Alarm intermittent. Once the engine shuts down, move to neutral, alarm silences, then proceed to run full throttle and no problems.

  1. I would guess it is a faulty sensor, or an electrical issue

  2. Defective alarm sensor.

  3. Are  you certain it's a cooling system alarm??  If this engine is a 2 stroke with oil injection, you might have a problem with the oil system or the sensor for it.  I had a similar problem on a 135hp Merc.

  4. NO SURE BUT I WOULD CHECK MY WATER PUMP PRESSURE ASAP, SHUT IT DOWN UNTIL YOU FIND OUT

  5. You can disable the alarm, but you better be sure you put oil in every time and see water out of pee hole.

    Probably is a bad sensor.
