Yamaha 60 Outboard Engine Why isn't the tilt indicator working?

I have a yamaha 60 outboard engine. For some reason the tilt indicator has stopped working. When I turn on the ignition the needle goes round and then straight back to normal. Does anyone have any idea where the fault might lie please?

  1. Your sender arm is probably stuck. Trim the motor all the way up and look for a plastic arm mounted inside one of the motor brackets. If it's stuck down, that's probably your culprit. Try gently lifting it while the key is on. You may want to spray some silicone spray on it before lifting it. You may have a bad gauge but not likely if it moves when you turn the key. You can also test the gauge if it's analog, but not if it's digital.
