Yamaha Factory Racing rider Ben Spies prepared for upcoming German Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Yamaha Factory Racing team rider Ben Spies is fully prepared for the ninth event of the 2011 MotoGP calendar, the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland due to take place at Sachsenring, Germany.
Spies said, “I'm really looking forward to the next two races. I got on pretty well at Sachsenring last year; the end result didn't reflect how good we were. I think if qualifying had not been so incident filled we would have started closer to the front.”
The Texan rider at the Yamaha team expressed that the he and his team are in a good shape. He added the Yamaha M1s are performing at their best and he felt confident about the German Grand Prix race weekend.
Considering the 2010 German event, Spies has an uncompleted task at Sachsenring. In 2010, Spies was a rookie in MotoGP class and in his first visit at the German venue, he was quickly able to learn the new track.
Despite being handy at Sachsenring in 2010, misfortune struck him and he crashed out during the qualifying round after slipping over an oil spill caused by Jorge Lorenzo. After the crash, Spies qualified in 13th place for the race start.
After the German round, the MotoGP action will take place at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, US. It is an important round for Spies being his home event. The Texan rider along his teammate Jorge Lorenzo will be once again riding the red-white coloured livery
on their respective M1s.
Yamaha Team Director, Massimo Meregalli said, “In the last three years Yamaha proved to have a good bike for the Sachsenring track and we have a good set up for both riders now. I don't know the circuit myself, it will be my first visit with the team but
I am confident that we can perform well after looking at our history there.”
With success in the Dutch TT Assen event, the American rider is more hopeful to win the German Grand Prix. Let’s see how he fares in Sachsenring this weekend.
