Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo attends Sachsenring presser – MotoGP news
Yamaha Factory Racing team rider Jorge Lorenzo was present at the Sachsenring press meeting held before the race weekend of the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.
Jorge Lorenzo arrived in Sachsenring, Germany with high spirits from Mugello. After struggling for five rounds, he finally scored his season’s second victory at Mugello. Lorenzo is second behind Casey Stoner in the world championship standings and as well
as in maximum wins in the season. Stoner is on top with four victories in the 2011 MotoGP season.
Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo said, “The victory at Mugello gave us more confidence and now we are more focused on trying to win races, before we were playing a little bit – fighting for the podium. Now we know there is a big possibility to fight
for the win in the next races.”
At Mugello, Lorenzo was able to win his first race in dry conditions which also proved the competitiveness of Yamaha YZR-M1. The Yamaha machines have the benefit under braking and corner handling but the only thing which hampers their pace is the lack of
horsepower in their power plants.
So far in the season, Factory Honda RC212Vs have been the fastest rides among close competitors, Yamaha and Ducati.
The Spaniard has not yet won any race in any class at the Sachsenring circuit, but he is looking forward with a successive note from the Italian Grand Prix.
Lorenzo further commented on his performance at Sachsenring as he said, “I’ve never won here so it would be a good change to finally win here. We know it will be tough though. I’m very excited to get out on the bike. I like this track it changes a lot through
the different sectors and is very tricky.”
Lorenzo has closed his points’ gap from 28 to 19 from Casey Stoner and now with more confidence in his M1, he will fight to regain the championship lead as seen in the early season.
