Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo determined to win at Indianapolis – MotoGP news
Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo is heading to Indianapolis for the 12th MotoGP round a determination to win the event.
After losing at Brno, the Spaniard feels the need to win races to regain the lead in the 2011 championship.
Though he has collected good results at the IMS but Stoner’s strong lead might be tough to beat. The Aussie is 32 points ahead of the defending world champion after two wins in a row at Laguna Seca and Brno.
Lorenzo said, “Indy is a track I really enjoy. I treasure wonderful moments like the podiums in 2008 and 2010, and my victory in 2009 wearing Captain America's helmet. I am now in good shape and am ready to regain the ground we lost in Brno, where a mistake
put a distance between Casey and me.”
However, after he lost in Brno, Lorenzo feels that his good experience at Indy will let him shine again in the 2011 world championship. He is keen to get aboard his factory M1 at the IMS.
In the 2010 Indy GP, Lorenzo was third across the line, while Stoner crashed during the event aboard his GP10.
Lorenzo’s team manager Wilco Zeelenberg has also said that in order to win the 2011 MotoGP title it is important to win races and move ahead from Stoner. Though the challenge is tough but everyone at Yamaha is prepared for it.
Zeelenberg said, “We had some problems at Indianapolis last year, but they resurfaced the circuit so we're looking forward to checking it out as it wasn't in the best shape before. Jorge struggled to get the bike set up properly on it in 2010.”
Zeelenberg is also optimistic about the fact that the circuit has been newly paved that will help them to race in a better way. It is also possible that Ben Spies will be looking to take the lead at Indy as he has a far better experience of the venue.
Yamaha will again display its red-white livery at the IMS and hope to put up a good show for its American fans.
