Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo finishes second at German Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo stole the second place in the final moments of the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland held at Sachsenring, Germany.
Lorenzo said, “I’m very happy! It has been a fantastic race today. From the middle of the race I got very tired in my left hand so I didn’t know where I could find the strength to push and keep pushing to the end.”
The Spaniard was at the third place on the starting grid and took the lead for a short while when the race started. Later he lost the lead to Repsol Honda riders Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner.
Then Lorenzo was in pursuit of the Repsol Honda duo for the majority of the race. Stoner was very strong and pulled ahead of both his teammate and Lorenzo.
Just when a few laps were remaining in the race, leader Stoner lost tyre grip and struggled to maintain the lead. Although his race lines were very tight, but Pedrosa took the advantage to overtake Stoner and drop him in a second place battle with Jorge
Lorenzo.
Lorenzo played a trick on the very last corner of the final lap, where Stoner left his inside line open to him. At that point, Lorenzo removed the Aussie from the second place.
Lorenzo commented on the race situation and said, “Then Casey stopped the bike a lot two corners from the end so I took advantage of it, opened the throttle full stand in the last corner I went for it. It was a miracle pass! This race is very important so
we are very proud and happy with the result.”
The Spanish rider was appreciative of his crew at the factory Yamaha garage and their hard work to make the bike fast and strong. The team’s spirit was high after Mugello and the rider Jorge Lorenzo was even more focused to win the race or at least hold
a podium finish which he did manage in the end.
