Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo vows to continue good form at Motorland Aragon – MotoGP
Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo is motivated after a win at Misano. He hopes to carry his winning form to the 14th MotoGP round taking place at Motorland Aragon, Spain.
Jorge Lorenzo said, “I am very happy to be riding at home again and for a second time in Aragon. I'm looking forward to seeing all the fans there, and especially my Fan Club who are coming. Last year I couldn't get the podium which was a big shame.”
After winning the Italian GP at the Misano, the Spanish rider has closed his points’ gap to 35 points from 45 points. The defending world champion put up a great show at San Marino which earned him his third win in the season compared to seven of Casey Stoner.
It is the third home event for Lorenzo, but in the 2010 Aragon round, he missed the podium. The other round that he missed the podium was at the Japanese GP in 2010.
Lorenzo added, “I wanted it because I was competing in Spain and the season had been perfect and also because I was wearing Shoya's helmet in his memory. I had a good race two weeks ago in Misano and now I am very confident we can obtain another podium,
we believe we can again reduce our gap to Casey.”
After a strong fight throughout the 2011 season, he has been still struggling against the Honda riders. Somehow, the Yamaha M1 has not stood strongly to the comparative progress of the Honda RC212V.
The performance of Casey Stoner has strengthened the title chase for the Hondas. However, the Yamaha has benefits in tighter tracks due to his better stability under braking.
Lorenzo’s teammate Ben Spies also earned a victory at Assen in the new livery of the team. At Indianapolis, he again proved his potential with a third place finish.
However, Lorenzo has the benefit of points in the 2011 MotoGP championship battle and he will surely be fighting for straight wins in the races ahead in order to retain his title.
