Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo geared up to beat Casey Stoner at Australian GP – MotoGP news
Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo has expressed that he will try his best to hunt down Casey Stoner at Phillip Island.
The 16th MotoGP event, Iveco Australian Grand Prix will take place on October 16, 2011.
After finishing at third place on podium, Casey Stoner has a 40-point lead over title rival Lorenzo. Aussie has a good chance to secure a 2011 season title at his home ground on his birthday.
Lorenzo said, “I am now heading to Australia after a few days of training in Indonesia. I'm looking forward to riding at the Phillip Island circuit, one of my favourite and probably the most beautiful track we race on.”
On the other side, the defending world champion has underwent a training session in Indonesia to assure his perfect racing condition at Phillip Island. It is a very important event for both title contenders.
The most important thing is, if Stoner wins the race and Lorenzo fails to finish on the podium, the Aussie will be free for last two rounds of the season, Sepang and Valencia.
Lorenzo further expressed his determination, “After the race in Japan, where we had a positive result, we are really determined to be on the podium again. We know it's not going to be easy because Casey is usually invincible on his home track, but I will
try my best and won't give up!”
However, Stoner faced a bad run off at the Motegi circuit where almost every other rider made a mistake in the race. Only Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo raced well across the finish line.
On the positive side, after running wide Stoner fought back from seventh place and stood third on the podium. Stoner has won his home event in last four visits so it will be hopefully an easy task to repeat the stance.
Lorenzo will take the chance to see some loops to takeover Stoner but despite that he thinks it will be tough to beat him on his mastered home track.
