Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo underwent a successful surgery - MotoGP news
Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha factory team had a successful plastic surgery at Australia and flew back to his home in Barcelona.
After crashing at Phillip Island during the qualifying practice session the Spaniard was moved Knox Private Hospital at Wantirna, Victoria. Surgeon, John Crock operated his injury and restructured his fingers.
However, the Spanish rider was pleasant enough to congratulate Casey Stoner of Repsol Honda team on taking his second world title in his debut season with a new manufacturer.
Lorenzo praised Stoner’s effort for title and said, “Casey has had an incredible season with very few mistakes. He has always been very strong and consistent so it has been very difficult to beat him. Congratulations to him, he has been the best this year and deserves his second title, a huge achievement as it comes with a different manufacturer.”
The Spaniard was anticipating a hard fight between him and Stoner. He also reckoned that the Aussie would be undoubtedly strong on his home track.
Lorenzo was clear that Stoner has won four consecutive starts at Phillip Island aboard a Ducati machine. This time he was on Honda RC212V, the bike which has dominated the 2011 MotoGP season.
Lorenzo further added, “I would have liked to have fought until the end, maybe until Valencia but the accident on Sunday made it impossible. I am very proud of my team for all the hard work they have put in to take second place in the championship.”
The defending world champion had a serious accident during the qualifying practice session of Iveco Australian Grand Prix, last weekend. Though the Spaniard was strong in the weekend, but did not top any timesheet.
Lorenzo was taking the Australian event as an important turning point in the championship. However, the pressure on Lorenzo made him lose concentration which probably ended in a crash.
While recovering from his injuries at Barcelona, he aims to concentrate on the 2012 MotoGP season. The next season is all about 1000cc engines, more power and more ferocious fight for title.
One of the many worries of Lorenzo was that he thought to lose the feeling sense of his finger, but the surgeon assured to regain full sense of feeling.
The Spanish rider was satisfied with the state of the art operating facility and the effort put in by Dr Crock to give him the best surgery.
