Yamaha Factory rider Jorge Lorenzo leads official MotoGP test at Estoril – MotoGP news
The 2011 MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix was followed by the official MotoGP test on Monday which was led by Yamaha Factory racing rider Jorge Lorenzo in early hours.
Randy de Puniet and Hector Barbera were the only riders who did not run at the test session as both of them were gone for medical check-ups. Randy de Puniet went for his knee check up while Barbera was down due to his fall during Sunday’s race in which he
cracked a bone in his spine.
During the Portuguese Grand Prix, Yamaha Factory Racing rider, Jorge Lorenzo was able to hold for a fourth consecutive podium finish at the Estoril circuit. Lorenzo has previously won three races from his three pole starts at the Portuguese track. In the
ongoing 2011 season, he managed a second place finish on the track, which now makes four podiums from four pole starts for the rider.
Lorenzo was able to lead the grid from his pole start without any problem or any real threat. The Spaniard’s M1 was performing very well and held firmly while braking for the corners. He led for about 25 laps with no traction trouble on exiting bends.
His victory was eclipsed when Pedrosa stepped up to try for the race winning overtake. Dani Pedrosa rode on the tail of his compatriot, Jorge Lorenzo from the start of the race with a little gap between them, which was never exceeded from a fraction of a
second. This was the test for Pedrosa and his shoulder to keep the pace with the race leader who already had a triple victory from pole positions at the Estoril circuit.
However, Pedrosa could not overtake Lorenzo and he managed to take his fourth consecutive podium finish at the track.
