I am new to motorcycles, and I was just wondering...

Why is it that the YZ-125 is faster than the TT-R125? Its the same engine size!

(Also...with TT-R250 vs YZ-250, and WR450 vs YZ-450...)

  1. the ttr is an offroad bike for things like riding trails and things like that. the yz is a motocross bike. generally the yz is faster because it is made for racing. If you are considering buying one, i would go with a yz 250f. itsbasically the same size as a yz 125, but its a four stroke.

  2. Well, race bikes are going to be faster. They have a high output engine combined with many other options like, a liquid cooled engine, far superior suspension, aluminum frame which lightens the bike a great deal. There are many other improvements that race bikes will have over a trail bike like the TT-R. Also the YZ is a 2 stroke which make more power per cc than a 4 stroke like the TT-R. Same thing with the 250's. The TT-R250 is a heavy, under powered trail bike with crappy suspension whereas the YZ250 is an all out race machine. The YZ450F and WR450F are both race bikes, but the YZ is the motocross version and the WR is the woods version. Do not confuse woods racing bikes like the WR, the CRF-X and KTM's with a trail bike like the TT-R, no comparison.

  3. well a yz 125 is a 2 stroke that means you must mix the oil and gas... a ttr 125 is a 4stroke you can put plain gas in it....

since the yz is a 2 stroke the pistons and things are going faster than a 4 stroke.... it takes a 4 stroke twice as long as it does a 2 stroke for the wheel to one complete turn....

                                                                          hope this helps!!
