Yamaha Tech3 riders Edwards, Crutchlow looking for more practice at Motorland Aragon – MotoGP news
Monster Yamaha Tech3 riders Colin Edwards and Cal Crutchlow are keen to return to Motorland Aragon for further practice.
After the cancellation of the second free practice session on Friday, both Tech3 riders were eagerly waiting for the 75-minute third practice session to be held on Saturday.
Edwards said, “That was a pretty easy day and to be honest I don't think I've ever been in and out of my leathers so many times in one day. This morning, I felt pretty good and comfortable, which was immediately a good sign because I didn't have a very good
feeling with this track last year.”
Edwards was pleased with his first practice run, as he was able to feel better with the Tech3 M1. Considering the 2010 event, the Texan rider was facing a grip issue. In order to sort out the grip issue, he used soft at front and hard at rear to minimise
the effect.
Edwards was better from the start of the day. He opted to use hard compound on both ends which helped him with a better feel. Now he looks forward to enhance the race setup.
The Tech3 squad was ready to carry out some changes in the FP2 but it was cancelled due to a power failure at the circuit. The Texas Tornado considered it to be the right decision though it was a problem for fans and riders.
The British rider, Cal Crutchlow was initially trying to learn the track during his first visit to the Motorland Aragon. Crutchlow opted for soft compound tyres for the morning session.
Crutchlow said, “I was really happy this morning because it was a good solid start and I really enjoyed riding the track. It was a pity I couldn't have lapped a little bit faster but I stayed on the soft front and rear tyres for the whole session.”
Except for a few riders, the rest of the field used hard tyres for the session. Edwards too was riding with hard compound slicks. Crutchlow said that if he had run on hard tyres, he would have been able to rank in top ten rider slots.
