I am planning to buy a 250cc bike. I am fine with outgrowing it in a year and all that... I just like 250cc for gas mileage.

I saw an ad in craigs list for a 2003 Yamaha Virago 250 for $1200. It has 12000+miles on it. No accidents. looks like taken very good care of.

is 12000 a lot or will it run for a lot more. I think the price is reasonable but any suggestions.

About me:

I am 5.10 and so should be fine with the low rider position.

its not going to be my starter bike since I am used to 125cc a lot. but will be my first in the USA.

Anything else I should know or should ask the seller before I buy it.

  1. you need to hear it run, 12k today isn't alot of miles if the bike was taken care of, but you need to use common sense, look at and examine the bike, ride it down the road once. make sure it starts easy, front end isn't loose, check tires etc.
