Question:

Yamaha Vs Ducati On the Long Straight at Shanghai?

Before we get there and see for ourselves. Do you think that the Yamaha boys have got the M1 geared up to be as quick as the Ducati down the longest straight of the season.

and while we are at it

Can Honda really think about not running the new if not ready Pneumatic valve engine.

Basically, is anyone going clock a faster speed through the trap than Stoner. or Melandri ?

  1. I think it will be the Ducati but would like to see the Honda be the fastest so will live  in hope and roll on the weekend.

  2. you belive in your self  choose what your gf likes.

  3. Ducati, for the style

  4. It hurts just thinking back to last year with the Duc just blowing by the M1.  I would hope that for this particular GP they will address that issue to give Vale a fighting chance.  The other answers have a good point too, Honda might be able to make the best of that long straight.  Also, as mentioned, rain may play a big part.

  5. I still think that Casey will be hard to beat down the straight especially as its almost certain to rain on Sunday (if so, will be hard to get set up as rest of the days are to be dry!!) But if completely wet, West and Vermulan will be well up there too!! Looking forward to an exciting race and hopefully Rossi's first of many win's of the season!!

  6. Hi proc

From what I've read the Duc is still a little bit up on top speed compared to the Yam.

But the spring valved Honda is pretty quick too. Especially with little Dani on it. So, if the pneumatic valved version proves to be reliable, and I'm sure Honda wouldn't risk it unless its been tested to the hilt in Japan, (I can't see them making the same mistake as Yamaha last season). I think we may see Honda at the top of the speed sheets.

I'm sure they'll use the air valves. It remains to be seen whether its Dani or Nicky (Guinea Pig) who uses it. If it has been tested thoroughly and they think its gonna be reliable enough, it'll be Pedrobots ride, and he's gonna fly.

Its going to be a tough choice for the predictions this time........Bridgestone circuit, Vale with a point to prove, Stoner too, on probably still the quickest machine on the grid. Unless of course Honda have something to say on the subject.

Cant wait. Should be a corker!

  7. R1

  8. OK then, seen as the first 3 puppets did not even the read the question, Ill give a go.

My bet is it not going to either of them.

My money ( for top speed only ) is going to be on Dani Robotosa with the new pneumatic engine.

The kid is lighter then an empty packet of tabs, and if the engine works well, it will be a bullet.

This is going to be a massive point in this years title race. Bridgestone need to up there game, and Vale & Stoner need to start fighting for the top step, unless they want to two young Spanish to do a runner.

My money is on Vale. A couple of wins will do him and no harm and [ again ] prove to Yamaha who is top dog.

Theres a contract still going at Fiat dont forget !

  9. Sorry for saying it but.... Forget about Melandri. I like the guy but this bike is not for him. As for Yamaha vs Ducati, I think the Ducati will be flying far away beyond the reach of the Honda and Yamaha.

As for Honda, they still haven't run that new thing but they are doing pretty good even without it. So why should they bother to put it? (not that I know what it is, anyways ;))

  10. I think colin edwards, has already answered that question. and rossi backed him up,you can't discount honda, with pedrosa on board i believe, he won here last year..........<^><...
