Yamaha World Superbike Team rider Marco Melandri likes to face Max Biaggi in race – WSBK news
Yamaha World Superbike Team rider Marco Melandri has said that he enjoys racing with Max Biaggi.
Melandri won race one after holding Max Biaggi to second place at Brno World Super Bike Championship event.
Melandri said, “It's a great sensation to be on my third win of the season but I still need to do a double. I'm really happy with today's results. At the beginning of race one I didn't think I'd catch up on Max, so I immediately passed Eugene in order to
tail him.”
The Spanish rider said that he was fighting to keep his pace faster than Biaggi but the Italian rider was faster at some points.
Spaniard completed the Brno, Czech race with a victory and will be heading to Silverstone, Great Britain. He has scored his third victory of the 2011 World Superbike season.
Melandri further said, “Race two was also very difficult. I certainly didn't give up but it wasn't easy to keep pushing. Max and I had a nice battle which I think we both enjoyed, and I'm sure the spectators did also. I have to say thanks to the team for
doing such a good job again. I'm looking forward to Silverstone.”
The race day at Czech was somewhat similar to the race day at Motorland Aragon. Both riders, Marco Melandri and Max Biaggi scored wins in race one and race two respectively.
The Italian’s win has moved him 13 points closer to the World Superbike Championship leader Carlos Checa. After the WSBK Brno race, Biaggi is 30 points behind Checa, but still he hopes to come close enough for a title fight.
Yamaha WSBK team’s Spanish rider was able to score a win after about a race long pursuit of Biaggi. With only three laps to go, Melandri was able to pass his rival on Aprilia and savoured victory in the final moments.
The same overtaking technique was seen by Melandri in race two but Biaggi was determined and fast to regain the lead for a decisive win.
