Yamaha aim to capitalise in French Grand Prix - MotoGP News
Yamaha Factory Racing duo, Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies are ready to gather at the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France. Yamaha team is looking forward to avail benefits from the Estoril findings, at the post race test.
Spanish rider, Jorge Lorenzo, is confident to enter the French Grand Prix of the 2011 MotoGP season. The young rider has just celebrated his 24th birthday last week. The reigning World Champion will run in the French round to extend his un-interrupted
rostrum finishes. He made an impressive win in the second round at Spain, in a wet-greasy track conditions. The track was partially wet-dry, which made it tough for the riders to stay on track. Jorge Lorenzo scored the win at the Jerez, despite the challenging
conditions.
Jorge Lorenzo, said, “I am coming back to Le Mans, a track I really enjoy and where I won last season. The people in Le Mans love motorbikes; they love the smell of fuel. We are on the top, but we should be focused on getting as many points as possible.”
American, Ben Spies, part of the Yamaha Factory Racing garage, is coming to France with a determination to end his double ‘Did Not Finish’ status in previous two rounds, Spain and Portugal, respectively.
The Texan kid’s last visit to Le Mans was unfortunate, when he faced a violent high side in the final free practice session. The rider experienced pain with a swollen ankle during the qualifying round, which continued into the race day. Spies crashed in
the seventh lap with a DNF in the 2010 Le Mans round.
Spies, said, “I’ve had a really relaxing few days off after Estoril back home in Como, Italy. I had a good chance to get out on my bicycle and really work off some of the frustration from the race.
The other two rounds, season opener at Qatar and the third race at Portugal, secured Lorenzo second place, at the podiums. Now, with three clean podium places, the Spaniard is leading the World Championship points table. He has a four point advantage over
compatriot, Dani Pedrosa. Lorenzo has won the last two races consecutively at Le Mans, along with, one unforgettable victory in 250cc category, in 2007.
