  1. Good question and it makes good sense, shame some people have trouble understanding it.

I have had the same problem with my Onkyo 505se, I did work for a while but the sound was distorted (not sure how that works with digital, but never mind). I ended up giving up and now I have to watch everything through my amp. Have you tried turning the Amp off when you try to watch your TV, some amps stop sound and intercept it for decoding when powered up (much like scart cables did with video).

If that does not work, I would suggest that if you can try using a S/Pdif cable to connect direct from your output to your TV.

  2. You did not specify what it is you are trying to accomplish.

"through the normal tv through my AMP" makes no sense.

Perhaps, there is someone in your household that is better versed in the English language.  Have them help you compose an understandable question.

  3. Make sure the HDTV and the amp have both selected HDMI in their offered select features.
