Yamaha factory team says both of its riders will participate in Japanese Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Yamaha factory team has said that both of its riders will be present at the Japanese Grand Prix due on October 2, 2011.
Earlier in the season at Silverstone event, Jorge Lorenzo expressed his views of not attending the Japanese GP. Along him were Honda riders Casey Stoner, Marco Simoncelli and Valentino Rossi from the Ducati team.
Lin Jarvis said, “After the publication of the report and the confirmation then from the FIM and Dorna that the race will be held, Yamaha’s position is we will go to the race. We expect both of our riders to be there and we also expect that Tech 3 will have
their riders there, which was confirmed in Brno.”
After the earthquake and tsunami disaster in the country earlier in 2011, the Fukushima nuclear plant was damaged causing radiation in the region. It caused the riders to vote against holding the Japanese GP in 2011.
After the disaster, Dorna and MotoGP assigned ARPA to analyse the situation at Japan and prepare a report about the region and health risks. The report termed Motegi circuit to be safe for racing.
However, after the Brno event, Stoner also softened his views and Yamaha’s Tech3 squad confirmed its appearance at Japan with Colin Edwards and Cal Crutchlow. Rizla Suzuki’s Alvaro Bautista will also race at Japan.
The Yamaha factory team has revealed that both of its team riders will be present at the Japanese Grand Prix due in October. Jarvis also disclosed that the penalties are not decided yet if Lorenzo or Spies fail to race at Japan.
Jarvis further commented, “We haven’t really discussed it with because we expect them to attend. Of course each rider has an obligation to attend all the races that are held. There may be circumstances in which they can’t attend like an injury or illness.”
Other than a genuine reason, it is not likely that any rider may want to skip a race. Otherwise, if any of the two Yamaha team riders declines to race at Japan, the team will appear with a replacement rider for the Japanese event.
