Yamaha getting ready for 50th anniversary of Grand Prix racing in 2011 – MotoGP news
2011 season will mark the 50th anniversary of Yamaha in Grand Prix racing since French GP 1961.
Yamaha has marked the milestone of performance since birth and delivered high performance throughout, spanning more than five decades.
The logo for Yamaha’s 50th anniversary has been designed keeping the essence preserved of its corporate colours. The 50th anniversary logo will be carried by its new MotoGP machines YZR-M1 in 2011 and on
the gears of team drivers, team uniforms, garages and Yamaha Factory Racing trucks, reflecting Yamaha’s historic racing pedigree.
Shigeto Kitagawa, the president of Yamaha Motor Racing and senior manager of Motor Sports Development Division and Motorcycle business Operations said, “It is my honor to announce that this year marks the memorable 50th Anniversary of our great challenge
for the Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix, started in 1961.”
He added, “Since then we have consistently produced many exciting scenes for our global audience and various motorcycles for our customers with excellent cutting edge technology from the racing world. In this memorable year we are planning to express our
gratitude to the people all over the world who supported us with their help and expectation. We will do this through the various events throughout the season.”
The world champion of MotoGP, Jorge Lorenzo is prepared for the upcoming season and confident with his 23-year-old teammate, 2010 Rookie of the Year, Ben Spies. It is true that Spies is new to MotoGP, but is more passionate to perform better and win.
Lorenzo said that although Valentino Rossi is not there for the pre-season tests, they still have another rider who might have more hunger to win because he has been in the MotoGP class for a far less time compared to Rossi. He further said that Spies is
very fast and hungry to win races.
Lorenzo’s pervious teammate Valentino Rossi has moved to Ducati and had an unofficial practice run last week in Sepang. Rossi is still recovering from his injuries and remains to be seen when he makes his full return in the motorcycle racing world.
