Yamaha interested in Stefan Bradl to join Tech3 block - MotoGP News
The German rider, Stefan Bradl is currently leading the early Moto2 championship and is drawing the attention of the Yamaha GP squad towards him.
With his high class performance, Yamaha is looking forward to welcome Bradl in their satellite team ‘Monster Yamaha Tech3’, along with the British rider, Cal Crutchlow. This move is expected to take place in the next MotoGP season.
The news was aired after a sports magazine revealed the interest of Yamaha for picking Bradl for the next season, it is yet not clear that the German will be added to the present squad or will replace Colin Edwards.
Yamaha Motor Racing Managing Director, Lin Jarvis commented on the interests of Yamaha and said, "Stefan Bradl is a very interesting rider for us and Germany is a very important market for Yamaha."
The father of the German rider, Helmut Bradl was present at the Jerez event, as he was discussing different opportunities with various teams for his son to run in for the next Grand Prix season. Helmut also discussed about a place in Yamaha Tech3 or a Honda
satellite team.
Stefan Bradl has scored three poles in three starts and gained two victories, one in Qatar and the other in Estoril. Stefan said, "Tech 3 is one of the few teams interested in me making the step up to MotoGP, but it’s not something I want to think too much
about at the moment."
The Tech3 team will be running as Yamaha’s satellite team in the coming 2012 season which brings many other changes. After the news came out, the question was raised as to the situation on, ‘will Colin Edwards survive in the high tide?’
The statistics reveal that Cal Crutchlow is safe with Monster Yamaha Tech3 team with a two-year contract, whereas Yamaha has shown no interest to add a bike in their satellite team.
Stefan has raced with KTM machines in the 125cc category in 2005 by appearing in three wild card races. In 2006 he continued in three wild card entries in the same class with KTM. In the same season he had a fracture during the Malaysian Grand Prix. After
returning later in the season he was a competitor at the Red Bull MotoGP Academy.
The present season for Monster Yamaha Tech3 has yet to show any good luck, but the only British rider in the premier class, Crutchlow has occasionally proved his potential and made some impressive fast laps during the test and free practice sessions. Crutchlow
faced an arm pump issue and underwent a surgery during the three weeks break before Portuguese Grand Prix.
Team-mate, Colin Edwards was able to finish sixth in the bwin Grande Premio de Portugal, but failed to impress the fans with a sustained performance.
