Yamaha receiver/remote mute button.

Question

I have a yamaha rx-v1070/870 receiver. several years ago, the mute button cease to work on my remote (no big deal). tonite, somehow it decided to work. now i can't unmute it. there is nothing on the receiver to change it. only the remote. help.
