Yamaha riders ready to hit Jerez event of the MotoGP 2011 season – MotoGP news
MotoGP riders are looking forward to get racing on the Jerez track, Gran Premio bwin de Espana.
The reigning world champion Jorge Lorenzo, who had his first victory last year in Jerez is more than excited to return for the race. Lorenzo will be welcomed by his home fans expected to be more than 100,000 on the racing weekend.
Lorenzo clutched the first victory of the 2010 season in Jerez, by a last lap overtake on his compatriot Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda, and started the MotoGP2011 season in defence of his title at Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar by finishing at good
second place.
Yamaha team and Lorenzo are satisfied by the season start at Qatar, and he also feels delighted to ride for his countrymen and fans in Spain. Lorenzo seems to be fully prepared to race at Jerez.
“Last year the situation was quite similar and perhaps I got the best victory of my career, closing a big gap in the last few laps,” he said.
The team is being realistic about the situation and prevents to predict any unseen incidents. The team is dedicated to work hard and put any effort to keep the 2010 World Champion ahead in front. Jerez is a special place for the Spanish rider, likely
to be the best for him. At 15 years of age he raced for the first time on this track.
Ben Spies had fair start at the MotoGP 2011 season, by placing on sixth place at the season opener race of Qatar. During the 2010 run he had a crash and could not score any point. Spies feels having some unfinished task left behind which he will be
completing this time, to score some points from the Jerez race.
This season being with factory team, full high-end machines Spies looks forward to have a better end for this race. Track knowledge is handy to the team so their concentration is to get optimum out of the setup of 2011 M1. Spies is also excited to
have his teammate running in his homeland and expect to have a good race day.
Ducati riders are also looking for the moment of race at Jerez; Valentino Rossi has won six premier class races at the Jerez track. Teammate Nicky Hayden has experienced podium positions at the track in his title winning 2006 season. After the season
opener at Qatar Ducati duo is looking forward to improve their positions in race standings as previously Rossi finished seventh and Hayden was ninth.
Jerez will also reveal Rossi’s shoulder durability and recovery as he felt pain in Losail track, he feels to have some ease on his shoulder as this track as he has worked in gym to get back to fitness and increase his endurance for the race.
