Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo aims to increase pressure on Casey Stoner at Laguna Seca – MotoGP news
Yamaha Factory Racing team rider Jorge Lorenzo is looking forward to pressurise Casey Stoner and hunt him down in the championship lead in the 2011 MotoGP season.
Lorenzo’s boost came after he won the Italian Grand Prix held at Mugello. His last moment success at Mugello was a big achievement for the Yamaha factory team. Although it was his only second win in the 2011 season but it was meant to close the gap to the
Australian rider.
Lorenzo said, “We are very strong at the moment with a great result at both Mugello and Sachsenring, we will try to continue to reduce our gap to Casey. I have had great moments in Laguna.”
He feels much more confident on his M1 as compared to the season start. He has scored six podium finishes including two wins in the season. In last two events at Mugello and Sachsenring, he stood first and second respectively.
His promising performance ensures that he has the potential to close the 15-point gap from Stoner if no incident hits him. On other hand, it is getting important for Stoner to win at least one race to maintain his lead further in the season.
Recalling his last visit to the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in 2010, he won the race despite of all odds. The Spaniard scored the pole seat for the US Grand Prix and made it to the first place even after facing a crash.
The Spanish rider, Lorenzo commented on the American circuit and said, “Laguna is amazing; for the American style and atmosphere, but above all because of the corkscrew. I think maybe it is the best corner in the Championship, the place everybody wants to
meet! I am looking forward to being back on my M1 there, riding to fight for the title!”
The tenth MotoGP round at Laguna Seca will decide the change in championship lead between Casey Stoner and Jorge Lorenzo.
