Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO wins the CEV Volleyball Cup – Volleyball news
The final match of the CEV Volleyball Cup- Women took place recently between Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO of Italy as well as the Turkish squad of Galatasaray ISTANBUL.
The city that hosted the competition was Busto Arsizio of Italy. The venue of the competition was the sports hall of “palayamamay” which was filled with a total of 5,000 home fans as well as 400 supporters of the guest team.
The title match of the competition took four sets to decide the winner as the Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO. The first two sets of the match were comfortably dominated by the Italians which posed them well for making a clean sweep. However, the guests put up an
impressive show in the third set and turned the match in their favour by avoiding a clean sweep. Unfortunately, the Turkish could only secure the third frame of the game as the fourth one went to the Italians after a tough competition.
The scores board showed the following final set scores: 25-19, 25-13, 23-25 and 25-23.
The match did not stop here as the winning team also went for a golden set that brought them another win at 15-9. Going high on the win, the Italians took the golden set of the match by storm and did not look back as their rivals kept on trying to close
in the gap.
The head coach of the winning team, Carlo Parisi, expressed himself in the following manner while talking to the reporters after the Italians had won the day, “If you win in front of such an audience like we did tonight, well it really feels special. I have
to congratulate my players because they started very aggressively and they quickly forgot the defeat we had suffered some days ago in Turkey. This is a well deserved win which comes at the end of a very long and difficult campaign.”
The player of the losing squad, Lo Bianco, expressed her disappointment with the outcome of the match by making the following comments, “I feel disappointed because we never found our way into the game but Yamamay fully deserved to win tonight.”
