Yana Martynova captures Women’s 200m butterfly gold – Swimming news
Yana Martynova of Trojan-CA captured gold medal of Women’s 200m butterfly on day one of the 2013 Speedo Grand Challenge at Woollett Aquatic Centre on Sunday, May 26.
The 25-year-old Martynova devastated hopes of her opponents in the distant butterfly discipline and sprinted her way towards the wall for first position. With her commendable pace, Martynova faced no difficulty from her challengers and made her way to the
finishing wall for first place.
With her astonishing efforts, she succeeded in securing her fastest qualification spot of the event as she touched the wall for first position with the timing of 2 minutes and 12.14 seconds.
The champion was chased by Noell Tarazona of UN-08-CA, who was 1.19 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 13.33 seconds.
Third finest spot of the race was obtained by Andie M Taylor of UN-12-PC, who was only 0.19 seconds slower and competed the podium by winning bronze medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 13.52 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Anna K Senko of UN-08-CA, who was two and a half body length slower from her former finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 15.82 seconds.
Fifth finest spot of the race was obtained by Sarah Nowaski of CAST-SI, who stayed marginally behind and emerged on the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 15.71 seconds.
Nowaski was traced by Isabelle Rongione of Fish-PV, who was only two body lengths slower and tapped the wall for sixth place with the timing of 2 minutes and 17.46 seconds.
Rongione was chased by Allison Goldblatt of Fish-PV, who stayed considerably slower from her preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 20.62 seconds for seventh place.
Isabelle Kearns of FAST-CA, who was only 0.15 seconds behind and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 20.77 seconds, obtained eighth position of the event.
Kearns was traced by Lila M Vera of Nova-CA, who was considerably slower from her former finisher and ended her race in ninth place with the timing of 2 minutes and 23.94 seconds.
Veronica Wolff of FISH-PV, who was only 0.10 seconds apart and posted a time of 2 minutes and 24.04 seconds, secured tenth position of the event.
Furthermore, Martynova collected medals and accolades at the prize ceremony of the race.
